The new server was put in place on Monday. It boasts 10x the storage capacity, newest Dovecot (1.2), and filtering is fixed.

One problem - it seems simultaneously AVG may have released an update to their email scanner which is causing POP downloads to 'freeze'. If you are having troubles downloading with Outook, please disable the email scanner. Let me know if you continue to have problems.

On a happier note - filtering is working properly now. After your email is Spam scanned, your personal filters will be applied. Your blacklist, whitelist and any specific filters can override any spam score. You can create a X-Spam-Status:YES -> Spam/ Filter that will put ALL spam into your Spam folder (and delete none). You can even create a simple 'deliver * to INBOX' if you don't want any Spam scanning to occur. After your filters are applied, normal system filtering will occur. If an email scores really high, it will be dropped, otherwise put into your Spam folder.

The next step is per-user bayes database. This part is done on the backend, and just needs webmail to be updated to Report as Spam or Report as Innocent to the correct database.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Rick

SMTP is done on the front-end, not the back end.

Yeah I am still having a problem downloading using pop3 connections. I have disabled any anti-virus software. Any suggestions?

The problem mentioned is, Outlook is apparently 'hanging' when checking VFEmail.net POP accounts.
So far every user who has had this problem had run AVG AntiVirus, and disabling the 'email scanner' solved the problem.
The other solution is to use IMAP instead of POP.

What kind of error are you getting?

For everyone who is having AVG issues email scanning issues, can you try changing your POP port to 112, and turning the scanning back on?

There seems to be success from more than one user on that port.
